Have you ever wondered why you keep repeating behaviours that no longer serve you, or why the very things that help you succeed can sometimes leave you feeling disconnected from yourself? Inspired by Sam McDonald's book, "The Addiction of Becoming Someone Else©" (free with this course) this self-organised Mastermind Learning Group offers an opportunity to explore addictions, adaptive behaviours, shame and identity alongside others on a similar journey of discovery. You do not have to identify as an addict to participate. Our behaviours can include adaptive behaviours not recognised as addictions such as workaholism, perfectionism, people-pleasing, achievement, control or even the need to be needed. Sometimes, these behaviours develop as ways of adapting to our relationships and environments, helping us feel safe, accepted or worthy of belonging, but often form part of codependencies. What if understanding who you are, and your relationship with others and your environments through over/under-use patterns and triggers could help you change your relationship with these behaviours? Through Interdependent Rules of Engagement©, buddy coaching, strengths-based learning and CliftonStrengths®, you will begin exploring your Intrinsic Identity©: your natural talents, motivations, needs and contributions, alongside the adaptations you may have learned along the way. Learning with others offers an opportunity to gain different perspectives, recognise patterns and become more conscious of how our differences shape our relationships. Using positive psychology and shared reflection, the group will explore how greater self-awareness can support new ways of thinking about ourselves and responding to life's challenges. What to expect: - Explore your Top 5 CliftonStrengths® and begin discovering your Intrinsic Identity©. - Use the shared learning materials to investigate strengths, over/under use and recurring patterns, as well as unique triggers. - Learn alongside others through reflection, discussion and mutual discovery. - Develop greater awareness of yourself and how you relate to others. This is a periodic self-organised learning group, not a substitute for addiction treatment or professional therapeutic support. It offers a space for ongoing learning and reflection, with the hope that greater understanding can support healthier choices and change over time. The journey begins with a question: Who might you become if you no longer needed to become someone else?
